Monument Park Building

The Monument Park Building provided exciting new business opportunities to the downtown area of the Village of Dexter. The project involved redeveloping a gravel parking lot into a three-story retail/office building. A.R. Brouwer Company assembled a project team that developed a site concept, cleaned the contaminated site, constructed, and fully leased the building.

The Monument Park building is located adjacent to the well-known Dexter Dairy Queen. Its first floor is a restaurant/retail space, and the second and third floors are leased as office spaces.  As of November 2014, the 21,600-square-feet building was home to an attorney’s office, dental office, Aubree’s Pizzeria and Grill, and others.

The building architecture was designed to blend with the existing late 19th and early 20th-century structures prevalent in the downtown area. Details of the building include a red brick exterior accented with precast stone at the front entrance, over each window, and at the corners facing Main Street. A plaster cornice is featured at the roof level, with window awnings and a glass storefront completing the details of this first-class building. This project was completed in November 2005.

On January 29, 2006, Steve Brouwer, President of A.R. Brouwer Company, was awarded the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce’s Spark Plug Award. The Award recognizes local business people who have significantly impacted the community in the last twelve months. Mr. Brouwer was credited with the vision and completion of the Monument Park Building.
