Michigan Ability Partners is a non-profit organization that provides housing assistance to their disabled clients. One of their missions is to acquire pieces of property to develop low income housing. Not only did the Maple View Apartments project provide necessary housing to MAP’s clients, it also involved them in the building process.
By using the ICAN system, clients assisted in building the outer walls by assembling wall forms similar to building blocks. The walls were then filled with Litecrete concrete. Clients also provided interior painting and tile work. The project provides ten apartments and over 8,600 sq. ft. of living space, with residences including a kitchen, dining room, living room, bath and bedroom. Construction began in November 2005 and was completed in early 2007.
A.R. Brouwer Company was awarded a Community Spirit Award by MAP in 2007 for our contributions to the project.
