ALDI Grocery Store

Chris Beecher

At the time of construction in 2008, ALDI had over 1,000 stores in 29 states and over 10 stores already located in Michigan. The redevelopment of the corner at Maple and Dexter-Ann Arbor Road became the first ALDI location in Washtenaw County. The project was classified as a Brownfield redevelopment project and required the removal of contaminated soil.

The ALDI grocery store is LEED certified and offers over 17,000 square feet of shopping space. The building was designed to reduce energy use and conserve resources. High efficiency HVAC systems, low flow plumbing fixtures and reflective white roofs were used to contribute to building a sustainable project.
